Chapter One: Introduction
1.1 Background of the Study
Human trafficking is a global crime that involves the illegal trade of humans for various forms of exploitation, including forced labor, sexual exploitation, and child soldiering. In Jibia LGA, Katsina State, human trafficking has become an alarming issue that undermines both social stability and security. According to Umar & Bello (2024), human trafficking in Jibia has not only led to the abuse and suffering of vulnerable individuals but also contributed to a rise in insecurity, including violence, organized crime, and instability within local communities. The trafficking of women and children, in particular, has been linked to increased vulnerability to terrorist groups and armed criminal organizations. This study seeks to investigate the security implications of human trafficking in Jibia, focusing on its impact on the local security environment and the community at large.

Despite efforts to combat human trafficking, its persistence continues to undermine security in the region. This study seeks to examine the specific effects of human trafficking on the security situation in Jibia LGA and how it contributes to broader security issues.
